Guides and comparisons

Honest guides on tattoo pain, aftercare, cost and removal, and comparisons of try-on tools — from the person building InkCraft.

This blog is the long-form side of InkCraft. The idea pages show designs and say where they sit; the posts here answer the questions that come up between choosing a design and booking the chair, at the length those questions actually need. Everything is written by the person who built the try-on, from planning his own sleeve and from what artists and clients report, and each post says plainly where it is repeating consensus rather than measurement.

Five posts. The tattoo pain chart by placement ranks the common body parts on the usual one-to-ten scale, explains why bone, nerve density and thin skin make the difference, and carries a row for each of the twenty-six placement pages on this site, so every "does an ankle tattoo hurt" answer points at the same chart. The aftercare and healing guide follows a tattoo week by week, compares film, wrap and dry healing instead of prescribing one, and gives every placement its own row, because a knee and a forearm do not heal the same way. The comparison of free tattoo generators and try-on apps tests what each tool actually produces, including this one.

Two are about money. How much a tattoo costs is built from hours rather than quotes, since the price of a tattoo is the artist's hour and everything else is arithmetic: it tables the hours by size, by placement and by style, and lists the costs that never make it into a quote. The removal and cover-up guide says what laser, fading and covering each cost in sessions and money, which ink colours come out and which do not, and which styles cover well, because the honest answer to "can I remove it" is usually "partly".

None of it is sponsored and none of it links to a shop. If a post recommends the try-on, that is because seeing a design at real size on your own skin is the cheapest way to avoid the mistakes the rest of the post describes. Try it in the browser, free, without an account.
